This series of hand built and painted ceramics was created as part of my final year project about domestic cooking. The ceramics chart a timeline which instates peasant women as the unappreciated architects of the development of many cuisines from many cultures. The design of each object is based on a piece of archaeological cookware which corresponds to a moment in women’s cooking history. The text comes from “Women’s Food Matters” by Vicki A. Swinbank, an academic, feminist revision of cooking history.
